PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - Starting from the site of the National Palace, internationally acclaimed racers and dozens of others will climb 8,000 feet of terrain in the first pro-am mountain bike race in Haiti. Presented by Pepsi Max and other sponsors, a televised one-hour sports special of the 65 mile race will be nationally televised in the U.S.

Laine says that the Haitian government's inability to support the nation's athletic programs weigh the balance of his decision.
