PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - The Prime Minister continues to multiply his meetings to assist the organization of Haiti's two-year overdue elections. For the second time in less than a week, the Head of the Government met with the electoral council where its president announced the soon completion of the electoral law.

ANSE-A-PITRE, Haiti (defend.ht) - In the South-East border town of Anse-Ã -Pitre, laboratory tests have confirmed that five individuals contracted the H1N1 influenza that first appeared in the Dominican Republic where 15 have died in the past two weeks. As well, the ban on Dominican poultry products was partially lifted.

In the Dominican Republic, there have been nine deaths, including two pregnant women, of 593 cases, of people having the virus in the past 24 hours.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - The Minister of Economy and Finance believes there should not be talk of a budget deficit in Haiti because as the nation is only midway through the financial calendar, adjustments can be made to respond to the current $209 million [US] deficit before it reaches the projected $419 million [US] deficit by year's end.
