PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - In accordance with the sobriety priesthood, the Catholic bishops of Haiti, gathered at the University of Notre Dame d'Haiti, to report on social, economic and political developments. Their conclusion is that extreme poverty is increasing, the cost of living knows no respite, food insecurity, social, political, psychological and physical gangrene exists in one way or another at all levels of the population. "This situation in which the country is mired is the result of bad governance," said Chibly Langlois, chairman of the conference. "We must reverse the trend by tolerance, faith and cooperation."
